mid-feb event.
brisk winds and cloudy skies
As Fallβs characteristic storms continue to cast the island in layers of heavy gray clouds, the season of festivals carries on despite the chill weather. The yearly animal exhibition is taking place in Town Square along with All Hallowsβ Eve at the end of the season, but thereβs something off about fall this year. Perhaps itβs the pirates who have anchored themselves at the beach...?
This seasonβs crops are eggplant, carrot, yam, spinach, and green pepper. Fallβs seasonal flowers are lamp grass, lilac, sweet pea, chrysanthemum, and petunia. As for mushrooms, porcini, enoki, and portobello spores are available for the fall.
the animal exhibition
The Animal Exhibition is your opportunity to show off the animals youβve spent the last year raising, caring for, and nurturing. Competitors will take the stage to make an appeal as to why their special little friend deserves the title of best in show. The audience will then rate their animal β and whatever impassioned speech was made on the animalβs behalf β on a scale from 1 to 10.
Both barn animals and animals from your coop may be entered, but your cats and dogs do not qualify for this competition.
Characters will be asked to fill out the following form to enter their animal in the exhibition:
Name: Your animalβs name! You did name your animal, didnβt you?
Special talent: Animals are just as special and talented as their human counterparts, obviously. Even if itβs complete BS, please tell the audience what your animalβs special talent is.
What qualifies your animal as best in show? This is your opportunity to make an appeal to the audience and talk up your animal. Go on, fish for votes! Thereβs no limit on how much can be said about your animal, so go nuts.
Once again, judgment will be cast by the audience and scores given on a scale of 1 to 10. Reply directly to the applications themselves to cast your votes and/or discuss the animal being presented with the exhibitor and your fellow audience members.
OOCly and ICly, the exhibition takes place on the 15th. Votes will be tallied and the winner announced OOCly and ICly on the 1st, giving you two weeks to enter, discuss the entries amongst your neighbors, and vote. The winner will receive a special animal never before seen on the island. Thereβs only one of it in existence!
all hallows' eve
As the end of Fall nears and Winter approaches, the residents of Crescentview Town have begun setting out carved gourds on their porches and handing out unique handmade candies to the farmers on Fall 30th, otherwise known as All Hallowsβ Eve. The bar has also begun selling hot pumpkin spice lattes that leave you feeling a bit sassier than usual.
It is said that the souls of the dearly departed roam the island during late Fall in search of their final resting places. The townsfolk carve gourds in order to house these wandering souls and allow them to rest before venturing on in search of a permanent home. These carved gourds glow with an eerie blue light when occupied with the souls of the dead... according to the townsfolk, anyway.
It is recommended that farmers use pumpkins from last monthβs harvest to carve their lanterns. Otherwise, a variety of small gourds can be purchased from the grocerβs. Candy and other sweet treats can also be purchased here if you wish to participate in the tradition of handing out candy on the 30th. Additionally, the candy distributed by the townfolk might leave you feeling scared and in need of comfort if consumed on the 30th. Spoopy.
thar be pirates
Remember the strange ship circling the coast? The one that is quite obviously a pirate ship? Yeah. Coming as a shock to absolutely no one, that ship has anchored at the beach and unloaded its gaggle of 100 pirates onto the shore, and the pirates waste no time heading into town to cause commotion and trashing, raiding, and pilfering farmerβs fields.
The level of damage wrought to your farm and the items taken is up to player discretion. The pirates are looking for fresh fruits and vegetables to take back to their ship and arenβt above using force and underhanded tactics to get them. Itβs quite possible that, if aggressed, they wonβt hesitate to attack farmers and villagers. If you give them what they want, the damage done to your farm may be minimal, but if you refuse, prepare for a fight!
The pirates will continue to take to the streets and ravage the island at random from Fall 18th to Fall 30th. Characters may attempt to deal with the problem on their own, partner up with their neighbors, hold town councils to arrange a larger-scale effort to thwart the pirates, etc. This is a very loose and open-ended event, but if your characters want to coordinate a special effort to deal with the pirates that require mod input, please give us a poke through the questions toplevel below. Additionally, the Goddess can be contacted ICly for assistance.
task board
The task board is located in Town Square and changes from season to season. In real time, a season is one month long. The following tasks are available from February 1st to March 1st and more tasks may be added mid-month.
Certain rewards are only available through event participation, so please keep this in mind when planning your threads. Multiple tasks may be completed within a single thread, but when turning in, please link to the individual tags in which each task was completed.
Finally, rewards are per character, not per farm, so those with housemates may want to coordinate with one another with regard to what animals youβre bringing home to your farm.
This monthβs current tasks are as follows. New additions have been highlighted in red.
1. Distribute your special chocolates. Fall is the season of love and thankfulness. Share the chocolates the Goddess gave you with your friends and neighbors to receive 1 random fall crop seed. This task can be completed 10 times.
2. Express your appreciation for your neighbors. Tell your friends you care for them, give them a hug, make them a warm meal. No matter how it is you show your appreciation for the people around you, βtis the season to make sure they know it. Complete this task a total of 10 times for 1 random fall flower bag.
3. Go foraging. Bushes producing blueberries, blackberries and raspberries can be found in the foothills and are prime for the picking in fall, but be careful: you might get a mild case of poisoning if you donβt know what youβre looking for!
You can also pick bioluminescent mushrooms in the forest and seashells at the beach to complete this task. You will earn 2 random bags of fall mushroom spores with each submission and you may complete this task a total of 5 times.
4. Check out Dulces SueΓ±os Resort. Travel there alone or with a friend for 1 cow, sheep, alpaca or goat of your choice. This task can be completed once and can be combined with tasks 6 and 7.
5. Contribute an item to the community pot. Throw in an item of your choice, but be warned: the Goddess might punish you if she catches you throwing in any garbage or dirty work boots. Complete this task once to receive a rabbit or chicken of your choice for your coop.
6. Share a memory with someone else. Spend the night at Dulces SueΓ±os Resort with a friend. As you rest, youβll exchange a single memory with the person sleeping beside you. You can complete this task to receive a Buff Fairy contract that summons a single Buff Fairy to work the farm, harvest and water crops, feed and brush animals, etc. You can complete this task a total of 3 times. That's three times the buff fairies!
7. Feel another personβs emotions. Visit the island and soak in its waters with another person. Doing so will allow you to feel what the other person is feeling. This task can be completed 3 times and each completion rewards you with a Diva Fairy contract. These fairies in their little designer heels are quite sassy, but they'll cook, clean, and do whatever work around the house that you demand of them.
8. Submit an Islekea furniture set. Islekeaβs application process has been streamlined and simplified! Applications are now free to submit and you may choose a maximum of of 5 items to supply in a set regardless of which room in the house they suit best. Submit an application to complete this task and earn a wardrobe containing 4 outfits from home. This task can be completed once.
9. Carve a gourd for All Hallows' Eve. Those lost, wandering souls need a lovingly carved gourd to roost in. Get together with your friends to carve a spooktastic gourd to set on your porch and earn a Halloween costume to go wandering around in and scaring your neighbors with. When submitting this task, tell us if you want a specific costume or if you'd like us to choose one for you.
10. Participate in the animal exhibition. Submit your finest barn or coop animal to be presented on the main stage in this yearβs animal exhibition. All participants will be presented with the Animal breeding 101 guide and a specialized breeding kit that will allow them to breed their animals. The winner will recieve a rare and unique animal of which only one exists. This task can only be completed once.
local happenings
The Crescentview Times newspaper has chronicled the latest happenings around the island. A physical copy of the paper will arrive on your doorstep early in the morning on Fall 1st.
The Library's shelves have been stocked with a slew of new additions. You may learn something interesting! As they say, knowledge is power.
The sound of church bells can be heard ringing distantly throughout the island. It's tradition for couples to marry on the eve of the new year on Crescentview Isle, so it may be no coincidence that the Fall wind is tickling the bells tucked high up in the church's steeple.

Hmm?
[ She turns around, piece of chocolate still in her palm. ]
"Chan"β?
no subject
[No apology, no stuttering, just straight to the point and said with his whole chest. Really, he seems rather smooth today.
His head tilts slightly, something warm and playful in his expression as he looks over her.]
Just means you're cute. I don't get to see you in this light hardly at all.
no subject
[ Facing each other like this, though, with her back against the counter... the fact that his entire demeanor - including his wardrobe - feels so different from his usual is utterly inescapable. He seems so sure of himself, and so she can't help but wonder: ]
Is today a special occasion, Otegine...?
no subject
[There's a hint of that old, boyish smile, but it's drowned out against something different and new.]
Maybe I wanted to feel at my best, and visit someone that makes me happy. That can be enough to make something special, right?
[The box is held out again.]
Please. Take your pick.
no subject
[ She's too floored by what he's just said to offer a real response other than the way her cheeks flush as she reaches over to take a piece. She holds out the piece of her own chocolate that she'd picked out for him, too.
Spirits, why is her heart beating fast... ]
no subject
...And a careful lean to lightly press his lips against the line of her fingers in his hand.]
no subject
O—Otegine!?
[ What's going on!? This is incredibly bold of him, isn't it? This, from the man who couldn't even bring himself to take Pyra's hand at the auction; and now, she's even seen why his heart is always so full of hesitation and doubt...
This doesn't feel quite right, definitely not, but at the same time she can't help but blush at him all the same. His lips on her hand were... soft... ]
I'm. [ ahem. ] I'm going to eat mine like this, if you don't mind—
[ She's not going to wait for an answer or give him an opportunity to do something funny and just plops the chocolate into her mouth. ]
no subject
[Except his eyes can't quite stay off her, lips parting in a thoughtful exhale, words coming despite himself.]
I love how compassionate you are, you know. That you'd drop everything to try and take care of anyone, and that you have so much affection to give, but that it doesn't rob you of your wisdom.
I think it makes you shine, to embrace your kindness.
1/2
What's going on, Otegine? You're being very...
no subject
... insincere...?
[ A hand lifts to the corner of her eye. ]
Huh? Why am I...
no subject
...
He won't think about it.]
I meant what I've said. It wasn't to upset you.
no subject
Even so, you... You're different today, Otegine.
[ With her hands now free, she reaches up and rests her hands on his arms. ]
I can tell.
no subject
[A hand reaches up to carefully run a thumb against her jawline, wiping away what tears are escaping.]
This... wasn't what I wanted.
But I like when you look at me. I feel... powerful, having your attention.
[Like parading through the streets, dressed up and unignorable. How long has it been, now?]
no subject
With her attention finally fully on him again, her grip on his arms tightens, even while tears continue to stream down her face. Snap out of it, Otegine. ]
...You don't need my attention to feel powerful, Otegine. You have plenty of reason to feel that way. You are a strong, enduring person. But you're strong because you've always been kind even when your life hasn't been kind back.
[ But, a beat, before she asks: ]
What is it that you wanted?
no subject
He grows still under her touch, brow furrowed.
...]
I don't know.
You. Just you. The kind you, with the kind words and the kind heart. I wanted to see... what you might look like. I wanted to see if you could still be kind.
...
[His hand drops from her face.]
Don't call me a person. I'm not.
no subject
She asked what he wanted, and he said you. What is she supposed to say to that...? ]
Otegine... Of course I could still be kind. Though this isn't like you... Something is affecting you, but you're still you.
[ Just like she's seen others be affected. Just like she's been affected. Though the results differ, it's all the same in the end: beyond any of their ability to control. ]
And you are a person. You're standing here right in front of me, aren't you? And saying that there are things you want, that you wish for.
no subject
[He feels great, actually. Save for whatever this irritating tightness in his chest is whenever he has to watch Ori continue to sob. What is he supposed to even do with this? Irritating. Useless, useless heart.]
You shouldn't insist things like that. Insisting things doesn't make them true. Just like wishing for things doesn't make them true.
[His chin lifts.]
I'll make things go my way this time. I don't need to be a person to want that. Don't go and get that mixed up, Ori. You're going to offend a lot of things out there otherwise.
no subject
Hah, this is... This is what you wanted though, isn't it? You wanted me to be kind. You'll just have to accept that my kindness means I'm going to treat you the same as I would any person, regardless of what you think of yourself as.
no subject
Yeah. Yeah, I know. I just don't get why you would.
[It's what he loves most about her, after all.
...
Slowly, he unrolls one of his sleeves, pulling it loose to the end of his fingers without cuffing it up. His free hand tucks under her chin, guiding it to at least face forward.]
...Don't look at the floor, okay? You don't have to look at me if you're angry. But at least let me clean you up.
It's... [Painful. Guilty.] ...unpleasant to see you like this.
no subject
Instead, she closes hers, taking in a deep breath, expelling it in a quivering sigh. ]
You're my friend, that's why... And I'm not angry.
no subject
He stays uncharacteristically quiet for a long few moments, reaching out with the fabric of his sleeve to carefully wipe at the trailing of tears. So long as she doesn't flinch away, he'll continue until her face is relatively dry, tucking a few stray hairs back against her horns.]
...There. That's a little better. [He can't bear to look at her any longer, shoving his sleeve back up his arm instead. Stupid, stupid stupid heart clenching like a stupid vice.]
no subject
... Tell me the truth, Otegine. Why did you come to see me?
no subject
[...
No, he knows that's a bad answer. He can do better. He sighs, crossing his arms against his chest.]
Syr's worried about the crops with the ship that just landed, so I'm making sure I have a backup plan in case he exhausts himself and we lose what we need for winter.
Nobody would really take these if they knew what they did. So I haven't bothered to say anything unless people feel nosy. I have a job to do.
I didn't feel like bothering strangers. You're someone I like to be around, and your shop's an impressive place. Even if things went wrong, I thought you'd be fine. Laugh it off, maybe, or something like that.
...
I was wrong. And you're upset. So that's what I get for assuming. But I can't take it back.
no subject
I'm not... Upset. I'm worried about you. I would have accepted your chocolate, even if you had told me that it would make me cry, because friends help each other out. You don't need to flatter me or kiss my hand or anything like that... You just have to be honest, and ask.
[ And to prove it, she grabs like four more chocolates and eats them!! All at once! ]
no subject
[It's too late to grab at her wrists, though, because the chocolates are in her mouth already. He at least rips the box away from her, shoving the lid back on and sliding it off to a far corner of the room. No! No more!]
What are you doing? I just told you, I don't want to see you cry like that--!
