The yearly animal exhibition is taking place in Town Square along with All Hallows’ Eve at the end of the season, but there’s something off about fall this year. Perhaps it’s the pirates who have anchored themselves at the beach...?

This season’s crops are eggplant, carrot, yam, spinach, and green pepper. Fall’s seasonal flowers are lamp grass, lilac, sweet pea, chrysanthemum, and petunia. As for mushrooms, porcini, enoki, and portobello spores are available for the fall.

the animal exhibition

The Animal Exhibition is your opportunity to show off the animals you’ve spent the last year raising, caring for, and nurturing. Competitors will take the stage to make an appeal as to why their special little friend deserves the title of best in show. The audience will then rate their animal β€” and whatever impassioned speech was made on the animal’s behalf β€” on a scale from 1 to 10.

Both barn animals and animals from your coop may be entered, but your cats and dogs do not qualify for this competition.

Characters will be asked to fill out the following form to enter their animal in the exhibition:

Name: Your animal’s name! You did name your animal, didn’t you?

Special talent: Animals are just as special and talented as their human counterparts, obviously. Even if it’s complete BS, please tell the audience what your animal’s special talent is.

What qualifies your animal as best in show? This is your opportunity to make an appeal to the audience and talk up your animal. Go on, fish for votes! There’s no limit on how much can be said about your animal, so go nuts.

Once again, judgment will be cast by the audience and scores given on a scale of 1 to 10. Reply directly to the applications themselves to cast your votes and/or discuss the animal being presented with the exhibitor and your fellow audience members.

OOCly and ICly, the exhibition takes place on the 15th. Votes will be tallied and the winner announced OOCly and ICly on the 1st, giving you two weeks to enter, discuss the entries amongst your neighbors, and vote. The winner will receive a special animal never before seen on the island. There’s only one of it in existence!

all hallows' eve

As the end of Fall nears and Winter approaches, the residents of Crescentview Town have begun setting out carved gourds on their porches and handing out unique handmade candies to the farmers on Fall 30th, otherwise known as All Hallows’ Eve. The bar has also begun selling hot pumpkin spice lattes that leave you feeling a bit sassier than usual.

It is said that the souls of the dearly departed roam the island during late Fall in search of their final resting places. The townsfolk carve gourds in order to house these wandering souls and allow them to rest before venturing on in search of a permanent home. These carved gourds glow with an eerie blue light when occupied with the souls of the dead... according to the townsfolk, anyway.

It is recommended that farmers use pumpkins from last month’s harvest to carve their lanterns. Otherwise, a variety of small gourds can be purchased from the grocer’s. Candy and other sweet treats can also be purchased here if you wish to participate in the tradition of handing out candy on the 30th. Additionally, the candy distributed by the townfolk might leave you feeling scared and in need of comfort if consumed on the 30th. Spoopy.

thar be pirates

Remember the strange ship circling the coast? The one that is quite obviously a pirate ship? Yeah. Coming as a shock to absolutely no one, that ship has anchored at the beach and unloaded its gaggle of 100 pirates onto the shore, and the pirates waste no time heading into town to cause commotion and trashing, raiding, and pilfering farmer’s fields.

The level of damage wrought to your farm and the items taken is up to player discretion. The pirates are looking for fresh fruits and vegetables to take back to their ship and aren’t above using force and underhanded tactics to get them. It’s quite possible that, if aggressed, they won’t hesitate to attack farmers and villagers. If you give them what they want, the damage done to your farm may be minimal, but if you refuse, prepare for a fight!

The pirates will continue to take to the streets and ravage the island at random from Fall 18th to Fall 30th. Characters may attempt to deal with the problem on their own, partner up with their neighbors, hold town councils to arrange a larger-scale effort to thwart the pirates, etc. This is a very loose and open-ended event, but if your characters want to coordinate a special effort to deal with the pirates that require mod input, please give us a poke through the questions toplevel below. Additionally, the Goddess can be contacted ICly for assistance.

task board

The task board is located in Town Square and changes from season to season. In real time, a season is one month long. The following tasks are available from February 1st to March 1st and more tasks may be added mid-month.

Certain rewards are only available through event participation, so please keep this in mind when planning your threads. Multiple tasks may be completed within a single thread, but when turning in, please link to the individual tags in which each task was completed.

Finally, rewards are per character, not per farm, so those with housemates may want to coordinate with one another with regard to what animals you’re bringing home to your farm.

This month’s current tasks are as follows. New additions have been highlighted in red.

---

1. Distribute your special chocolates. Fall is the season of love and thankfulness. Share the chocolates the Goddess gave you with your friends and neighbors to receive 1 random fall crop seed. This task can be completed 10 times.

2. Express your appreciation for your neighbors. Tell your friends you care for them, give them a hug, make them a warm meal. No matter how it is you show your appreciation for the people around you, β€˜tis the season to make sure they know it. Complete this task a total of 10 times for 1 random fall flower bag.

3. Go foraging. Bushes producing blueberries, blackberries and raspberries can be found in the foothills and are prime for the picking in fall, but be careful: you might get a mild case of poisoning if you don’t know what you’re looking for!

You can also pick bioluminescent mushrooms in the forest and seashells at the beach to complete this task. You will earn 2 random bags of fall mushroom spores with each submission and you may complete this task a total of 5 times.

4. Check out Dulces SueΓ±os Resort. Travel there alone or with a friend for 1 cow, sheep, alpaca or goat of your choice. This task can be completed once and can be combined with tasks 6 and 7.

5. Contribute an item to the community pot. Throw in an item of your choice, but be warned: the Goddess might punish you if she catches you throwing in any garbage or dirty work boots. Complete this task once to receive a rabbit or chicken of your choice for your coop.

6. Share a memory with someone else. Spend the night at Dulces SueΓ±os Resort with a friend. As you rest, you’ll exchange a single memory with the person sleeping beside you. You can complete this task to receive a Buff Fairy contract that summons a single Buff Fairy to work the farm, harvest and water crops, feed and brush animals, etc. You can complete this task a total of 3 times. That's three times the buff fairies!

7. Feel another person’s emotions. Visit the island and soak in its waters with another person. Doing so will allow you to feel what the other person is feeling. This task can be completed 3 times and each completion rewards you with a Diva Fairy contract. These fairies in their little designer heels are quite sassy, but they'll cook, clean, and do whatever work around the house that you demand of them.

8. Submit an Islekea furniture set. Islekea’s application process has been streamlined and simplified! Applications are now free to submit and you may choose a maximum of of 5 items to supply in a set regardless of which room in the house they suit best. Submit an application to complete this task and earn a wardrobe containing 4 outfits from home. This task can be completed once.

9. Carve a gourd for All Hallows' Eve. Those lost, wandering souls need a lovingly carved gourd to roost in. Get together with your friends to carve a spooktastic gourd to set on your porch and earn a Halloween costume to go wandering around in and scaring your neighbors with. When submitting this task, tell us if you want a specific costume or if you'd like us to choose one for you.

10. Participate in the animal exhibition. Submit your finest barn or coop animal to be presented on the main stage in this year’s animal exhibition. All participants will be presented with the Animal breeding 101 guide and a specialized breeding kit that will allow them to breed their animals. The winner will recieve a rare and unique animal of which only one exists. This task can only be completed once.

local happenings

The Crescentview Times newspaper has chronicled the latest happenings around the island. A physical copy of the paper will arrive on your doorstep early in the morning on Fall 1st.

The Library's shelves have been stocked with a slew of new additions. You may learn something interesting! As they say, knowledge is power.

The sound of church bells can be heard ringing distantly throughout the island. It's tradition for couples to marry on the eve of the new year on Crescentview Isle, so it may be no coincidence that the Fall wind is tickling the bells tucked high up in the church's steeple.

NPC - HARVEST GODDESS

[ The goddess will be available from her pond in the forest with an offering and a prayer as usual at any time. In the early mornings, she can be seen in the town, checking up on the citizens of Crescentview.

She can also be asked for assistance regarding pirates. Just put in the usual offerings and such at her pond.

She is still up for sparring! Groups or 1v1 is all good. Everyone will be healed at the end regardless of what injury they received during the spar. Just offer a glove into the pond if your character wants to have a sparring session with her.

1) by the sea shore

[He has absolutely no idea how to forage things out in the wilderness that won't possibly kill himself or Syrlya... but seashells? That, he can do. It's getting a little colder, but Otegine's normal jacket is nowhere to be found anymore, instead favoring a pullover in sepia tones, taking a break from the farm to just walk down the beachline and collect shells, a bucket in tow.

He is... also collecting rocks. A substantial pile of them. Weird, but maybe not unusual... until he stops to drop off parts of his collection, pauses, and promptly picks one up like a cherry tomato and puts it immediately into his mouth.

That seems fine.

He will wave hello genuinely if he sees someone pass, rocks in his mouth or otherwise, before holding out the bucket. Come help!]

2) invasion irritation

[He's not sure whether he's angrier at what these brutes are doing to the town, or thrilled that he finally, FINALLY has something combative to do.

Though Otegine doesn't try to use deadly force unless absolutely necessary, the blade comes out more often than not at the ones that start harassing the locals. Crops can be regrown. People can't. And with his powers restored, Otegine is both unhumanely fast and strong. Have you ever watched a spear pierce right through the trunk of a tree? Maybe you get to see that happen.

People can also catch a message on the memo board as soon as the invasion starts:

Find me if they don't listen to reason. We can't let them take the city. - OTEGINE

For some odd reason, he's also included a (poorly drawn) picture of pirates attacking the town, and a stick figure holding a spear. Weird addition, but okay!]

3) wrong side of the bed

[Something must be in the water.

Fall 19th, someone's... looking a little different. Unruly hair smoothed out a bit, and deliberately in the clothing store first thing in the morning. Really, what is he thinking, wearing something like this... but he's clean cut and smooth, button up with the sleeves rolled up and the first couple buttons left undone, the smooth line of slacks and the clack of dress shoes with the confident line of his back leaving him moving in far less of the clumsy, earnest motions one might expect from the tall brunette.

Who the fuck is this person.

He's everywhere BUT on his farm today, slipping into the different buildings of town or slipping onto the outskirts of other's properties and rather impolitely looking over people's shoulders, picking items off of carts or trees like the world's his oyster (because it is, of course) or talking to employees in low tones with almost devilish looks in his eyes, only to have his gaze flick dangerously at the approach of others and straighten up with a grin that's incredibly comfortable and confident.]

Good morning. Heh. What, did I scare you~?

[He has absolutely no desire to do any helpful work today, it seems... but he sure is making a beeline like a hawk to anyone that isn't a villager if it seems like they're just minding their own business. Chocolates would get a couple interesting looks, at least, and he's bored... so don't mind as he strides on up from behind to slide around from the line of the shoulder and intentionally spook you. Personal space? Nah.]

Hey. [His voice lingers, holding out a piece with a gentle quirk of his brows and a smirk.] Found something for you. From yours truly.

4) help (wildcard)
[prompt 3 is gonna murder me dead

if you want anything unique or anything, feel free to go wild, or hit up my plotting or discord!]

sweater weather; i don't know why this prompt is so long don't look at me;
[At least the seasons on this island move quickly, the summer heat already long gone and the air is now crisp and cool. Still not as cold as Owen would prefer, but not everywhere can have nightly blizzards. Plus winter is probably only a few weeks away, and the Northern wizard can feel at home for once in this godsforsaken place.

Still, it's getting almost chilly, and while Owen could just pick up the cloak he arrived in, he finds a jacket he almost forgot about tossed in the corner of his room. It's definitely oversized on him, the wizard needing to push up the sleeves to keep his hands free, nearly drowning in the green fabric. His usual clothes veer towards ill-fitting, but it's honestly kind of ridiculous.

Considering it has Otegine's name on it, though, it's pretty clear why he has it. (Possibly.)

Still, it's comfortable even if Owen wears it like a hanger, and it keeps him warm as he tries out what the season has to offer. The pumpkin spice latte could probably be sweeter, but at least it's a start. (Does Owen really need to be sassier, though?) It's also definitely getting him into the fall spirit, as well as the stories about ghosts and hauntings he's hearing.]

Have you ever seen the restless dead?

[It's an entirely unprompted question as he (metaphorically) descends on a fellow farmer, a bright smile on his face and the sleeves of Otegine's jacket pulled over his hands to insulate them from the heat of his latte.]

Those agonized soul yearning for that which doesn't exist anymore? There's no suffering quite like it on the earth, and to think the villagers would deny them when their relief could come from their homes...

[It's fantastic. How morbid. He loves it. Depending on how lucky he is with the ambiance, the church bells might ring with his questioning.]

Are you going to do the same and reject those poor, unfortunate spirits?

gourd carving contest;
[Despite Owen's hassling about the pumpkins, he can still be found carving some gourds on his forest farm. It's more out of boredom then superstition, and he's cottoned on to the fact that if he participates in these silly little traditions it might count as one of the Goddess' tasks, and he might just get something out of it. He hates the idea of having to actually do things to get things in return and can't just take what he wants, but. Whatever. He'll suck it up.

Carving is a messy process, which is why he's set up outside so he can just throw the seeds at any animals or humans that pass by, though farmers and villagers get the wizard to speak up as he works through his stack of gourds.]

Hey. Come here - I need a model for this. You don't have anything better to do, right?

[Hm.]

wildcard;
[Anything goes! Owen will be out and about eating candy, telling ghost stories, and all around dealing with the mortifying ordeal of being in a shipping game. Just let me know, and I can cook up something for you, too!]

i - how to deal with pirates

[ A) Perhaps you've seen Ellis pass out after eating a little of the community stew because he couldn't handle it in the beginning of fall, but now you see him lug a big bucket around full of that same stew with extra carolina reapers that he found while foraging. There's also a ladle inside. There's steam coming out of it too. When Ellis approaches the rowdy pirates on his property who are trying to steal his crops, he tells the buff fairies to secure them while Ellis scoops a bit of that stew and splashes it right onto their faces repeatedly, hoping that some gets in their eyes. Regardless, he might need some backup.

B) Or maybe you spot Ellis somewhere else where there are sakura petal raining wherever he goes for the afternoon with a big smile. What crimes will he commit? He's not the type to rescue others, but when he sees a pirate trying to steal someone else's crops, he gets out a dagger. For those who know Ellis at a decent level, they know that he can't speak well. Which is why it's strange when he opens his mouth and seems to be talking in a rather deeper voice than expected:
]

Hey... Don't take those crops. They worked really hard on them.

[ The raining sakura petals make the scene even more dissonant as he walks closer to the pirate while holding up the dagger rather menacingly while still smiling. His green eyes seem sharper than usual--for those familiar, he's partially having his survival instinct triggered. He puts a hand on their shoulder. Glitter comes out that makes it seem like he's trying to dissolve the pirate. He's King Midas of Glitter, bitch. ]

If you won't listen, I'm sure you can be very nice food for my cherry blossom tree. You can be the lucky seventh person fed to my beautiful tree--

[ The pirate runs away, dropping the crops before fleeing for their life. The sakura petals continue to rain, but Ellis stops putting up that front and sighs out of relief. Whew. He holds the dagger in a more safer method so that he doesn't accidentally cut anyone with it. Ellis isn't the one "talking" though: ]

I'm never doing that again. How dare you make me go along with your schemes of being a delicate pansy ass. Just stab them in the gut and be done with it. Make it rain blood!! Welcome the carnage! And get this glitter off me this instant.

[ He just wryly smiles at the dagger. Characters are welcome to think he was possessed, but he was really just mouthing words and the dagger was speaking for him. Ellis thinks he can't be intimidating on his own. Sakura petals continue to rain around him. ]

ii - pumpkin doodles

[ When it's nearing All Hallows' Eve, Ellis can be seen outside of his rural house with a table, scooping out pumpkin seeds and trying to create art on them. He's had several failures, so they've been mashed inside a clean bucket for using it to cook something later. Right now, he has a small pumpkin--

A) --and he is wearing it over his own head. Pumpkinhead. Hello. He waves as you pass by.

B) --and is carving out a a small cartoonish-looking person who is sleeping peacefully on a bed with some Z's. This one will be his lantern.
]

iii - tasks

[ If your character would like to do tasks #1-3 with Ellis, please assume Ellis goes up to them and asks if they want to do a task together! He can trade chocolates (uncontrollable hiccups), give you hugs, make food for you, or go foraging. I will probably add a bonus effect along with these. ]

iv - wildcard

[ If you want a different prompt, hit me up by PM or discord! He still has a business that will help you stabilize things for a small fee if you want to play with that too or something else! I am open. Give threads. ]

PIRATES.
[ out of all of the things that uta would have expected to expirence when she was here, seeing pirates and having to experience them raiding the village was not one of them. it was an experience as far as humanily possible from her mind given the circumstances of why she was brought here in the first place. nevertheless, the ship that had circled in the distance hadn't given her too much to think about but then they landed and then the raiding and pilfering happened...

and when a few showed up on her farm...well. if they thought that uta was going to be afraid of them when then they would be mistaken. (if anyone thought that uta would have been afraid missed out in understanding the kind of woman that she was.) however, she would excuse them for being confused when she'll respond to their demands with a song.

but the results will speak for themselves and instead of demanding pirates on her farm, there will be snoozing pirates on her farm. a nice pile of them as dog!luffy makes an appearance.
]

What kind of pirate doesn't have manners? [ she'll mumble under her voice and allow dog!luffy to chew on one of the sleeping pirates' pant leg as they enjoyed whatever dream (or nightmare) that they were having. ] If they wanted food before they go out to sea again, they could have just asked.

[ with that said, uta will walk away for a brief moment to go inside of her home (for the past two seasons)—it wasn't as though they were going to be going anywhere anytime soon—to come back out with a basket of a few ears of corn, a couple of oranges, and some potatoes and places it down next to one of them. it's not a lot of food considering how many pirates there were, but it was far more generous treatment of the people who had raided her farmlands just moments ago.

unsure what to do next, uta will squat next to one of them to give them a closer examination. ...they didn't seem like anything special. they weren't pirates that she was used to at home. (for better or for worse.) also, at this point, dog!luffy had gotten tired of chewing on the pirate's pant leg and comes back to her side as she starts to poke at the cheek of one of them.
]

WILDCARD.
[ 😭 my brain is small but my heart is big. feel free to leave me a starter of whatever and i'm cool to respond to it. aka i'm real bad at coming up with memshare starters. ]
