feb event.
crisp fall weather
Heralded by cooling temperatures and the crunch of orange leaves underfoot, fall has arrived on Crescentview Isle. It’s time to break out your sweaters and scarves in preparation for the cooler days ahead.
Fall is a season rich with tradition and festivals aplenty, so head down to the Town Square to find out what all is in store for you this season. While you’re at it, take a look at the calendar for Fall 1st through 15th.
This season’s crops are eggplant, carrot, yam, spinach, and green pepper. Fall’s seasonal flowers are lamp grass, lilac, sweet pea, chrysanthemum, and petunia. As for mushrooms, porcini, enoki, and portobello spores are available for the fall.
hot! ...or pot?
Every Fall 1st, the townsfolk of Crescentview Isle get together for an island-wide feast with food, beverage, and merriment aplenty... but this banquet is a group effort.
Centralized in Town Square is a massive pot simmering with the Goddess’ special broth, and on Fall 1st, townsfolk are invited to throw an item of their choice into the pot to contribute to the stew everyone will enjoy together during the banquet the following day, Fall 2nd.
The thoughtful, rational contribution would be a vegetable, animal product or other edible item, but no one is saying you have to toss in something edible. For every item added to the pot, the flavor, scent and/or special attributes may change, so choose your addition wisely! Here is an example of how your contribution might affect the stew.
Each islander may only contribute a single item to the pot, but be warned! Throw in anything too ridiculous and the Goddess reserves the right to make you regret it for the rest of your days. OOCly, you have from February 1st to February 8th at 12pm EST to add in your contribution.
fallentine's day chocolates
Fallentine's is a local tradition in which the townsfolk gift their friends, neighbors and loved ones special chocolates to show thanks and appreciation for all the joy they bring to their life. This year, the Goddess has provided the island's farmers with her own special chocolates that have arrived in your character's mailbox on Fall 1st.
Each box contains 20 pieces of buff fairy-shaped chocolates. The notecard tucked neatly into the box recommends that you give out one piece of chocolate per person, which might not seem like much... until you see what happens when that little chocolate is consumed!
As you might expect, something special will happen upon consumption of the Goddess' special chocolates, so be warned when consuming or giving out your chocolates! OOCly, each character's chocolates boast a unique effect when consumed, but characters won't know what that effect is ICly until they start giving them out to their neighbors. The effect of each chocolate (and the chocolates themselves) were distributed via the permanent AC post for January, so if you forget what effect your character's chocolates have, you can refer back to that page.
introducing the dulces sueños resort
Thanks to the efforts of our deep-pocketed islanders, all current community projects have been fully funded! One in particular — the mysterious island — is worth noting for the special resort that occupies it.
The Dulces Sueños Resort is a new destination available to all island residents and its tropical-themed suites aren't notable just for their immaculate decor. Spending the night with another person will result in the two of you exchanging a memory with one another as you slumber. Soaking in the resort's large open air baths will allow you to feel your partner's emotions while you both occupy the water, so if you're struggling to understand one another on a deeper level, a little bath may solve that!
This resort is a new and permanent feature of Crescentview island, so feel free to stop by and visit whenever you'd like. They're open for business all year-round!
task board
The task board is located in Town Square and changes from season to season. In real time, a season is one month long. The following tasks are available from February 1st to March 1st and more tasks may be added mid-month.
Certain rewards are only available through event participation, so please keep this in mind when planning your threads. Multiple tasks may be completed within a single thread, but when turning in, please link to the individual tags in which each task was completed.
Finally, rewards are per character, not per farm, so those with housemates may want to coordinate with one another with regard to what animals you’re bringing home to your farm.
This season’s tasks are all about deepening your bonds and helping you get even closer to your fellow islanders. Some of you may already be in relationships or working your way towards one, so what better way to get to know your partner than to explore their dreams and memories? Curious? Take a look at this month’s tasks!
1. Distribute your special chocolates. Fall is the season of love and thankfulness. Share the chocolates the Goddess gave you with your friends and neighbors to receive 1 random fall crop seed. This task can be completed 10 times.
2. Express your appreciation for your neighbors. Tell your friends you care for them, give them a hug, make them a warm meal. No matter how it is you show your appreciation for the people around you, ‘tis the season to make sure they know it. Complete this task a total of 10 times for 1 random fall flower bag.
3. Go foraging. Bushes producing blueberries, blackberries and raspberries can be found in the foothills and are prime for the picking in fall, but be careful: you might get a mild case of poisoning if you don’t know what you’re looking for!
You can also pick bioluminescent mushrooms in the forest and seashells at the beach to complete this task. You will earn 2 random bags of fall mushroom spores with each submission and you may complete this task a total of 5 times.
4. Check out Dulces Sueños Resort. Travel there alone or with a friend for 1 cow, sheep, alpaca or goat of your choice. This task can be completed once and can be combined with tasks 6 and 7.
5. Contribute an item to the community pot. Throw in an item of your choice, but be warned: the Goddess might punish you if she catches you throwing in any garbage or dirty work boots. Complete this task once to receive a rabbit or chicken of your choice for your coop.
6. Share a memory with someone else. Spend the night at Dulces Sueños Resort with a friend. As you rest, you’ll exchange a single memory with the person sleeping beside you. You can complete this task to receive a Buff Fairy contract that summons a single Buff Fairy to work the farm, harvest and water crops, feed and brush animals, etc. You can complete this task a total of 3 times. That's three times the buff fairies!
7. Feel another person’s emotions. Visit the island and soak in its waters with another person. Doing so will allow you to feel what the other person is feeling. This task can be completed 3 times and each completion rewards you with a Diva Fairy contract. These fairies in their little designer heels are quite sassy, but they'll cook, clean, and do whatever work around the house that you demand of them.
local happenings
The Crescentview Times newspaper has chronicled the latest happenings around the island. A physical copy of the paper will arrive on your doorstep early in the morning on Fall 1st.
The Mines have been expanded to include more rewards and more floors to explore! To continue your mining adventures or embark on one for the first time, please visit the new permanent page for the mines.
Pirates have been spotted off the coast of Crescentview Isle in recent days. They've been circling the island in a large boat flying a tattered banner of unknown origin, but their current intentions are unknown.
A blacksmith has made their way to Crescentview and has set up shop in town! The blacksmith can process any ores and gems you've acquired in the mines and fashion them into fine jewelry in exchange for any leftover materials that come with the ores and gems provided. He can also touch up and repair any farm tools brought to him.
The annual Fall Animal Exhibition is set to take place on Fall 15th. Farmers are encouraged to enter their favorite barn or coop animal in the contest to receive accolades and unique rewards. Participation also comes with its own rewards, so don't hesitate to apply with your finest animal when the time comes!

iii. training montage;
So he also expected that at some point he'd come across the blond doing exactly that. ]
Looks like you're having the time of your life over there.
[ Hello to you too, Flynn. ]
no subject
I'm glad to have my sword back. But I can't say that my artes are working particularly well yet.
no subject
Definitely going to remember what it feels like being kicked in the face, later on]That makes two of us.
[ He raises his sword, before tossing it up, and then catching it in seemingly a lazy motion with his opposing hand with laughable ease. ]
But, it's good to know that you're not letting it stop you from doing training. So, you know, you're not rusty next time we spar.
[ Or fight against anyone/anything else... ]
no subject
[ "Next time"? Yuri isn't just here to flash his sword around and not expect a reaction, is he? Flynn turns to smile at him and, with no more warning than that, swings his sword in a casual arc towards Yuri.
What? Yuri will block. ]
no subject
In fact, right after that, he'll step over to the other's side, performing a neat strike directed towards the area. ]
I knew you were looking for a sparring partner.
no subject
[ Flynn can't quite contain a grin as he spins to block. His balance is different without his shield, as are the options open to him. But how many hundreds of times did he play-fight with Yuri with just swords? The memory comes back effortlessly. ]
no subject
[ Wow, fighting words...he has some nerve saying this as Flynn successfully makes a block, footwork nothing less than excellent, the image of someone who hasn't lost his edge.
But Yuri doesn't let up, deciding to make a move towards his other side instead. Though that is a feint, and he wonders if Flynn will fall for it—his real target is going to be aimed lower at the blond's legs. ]
no subject
[ He's had all kinds of partners, Yuri!
Most of them, unfortunately(?), are knights. He therefore falls for the feint, moving his guard to cover his side before Yuri's actual attack makes him hop back. This was easier with his greaves... ]
no subject
[ All of your partners are far too straight-laced, Flynn.
He keeps in mind to ensure the blond's going to fight someone who's a little more...let's say, tricky in battle more often. It has been a bit of awhile.
But at least he hasn't gotten entirely unused to it, given his quick movements and thinking. But Yuri doesn't let up, pressing forward after Flynn, swinging towards his stomach. ]
no subject
[ If Yuri wants to see him on the defensive, Flynn doesn't mind that so much. He falls back a few steps as he parries, then digs in his heels and fires off the rapid series of straight thrusts of a Sword Rain at Yuri.
Precise, powerful, but still as by-the-books as usual. ]
no subject
Good try on that one. I'll admit, you almost got me. But almost isn't good enough!
[ Now he's swinging his blade, using the blunt edge of it, but also with a certain amount of force, trying to knock Flynn off-balance ala Concealed Wave
because I just remembered he can use his artes. ]no subject
I could say the same to you. I'm glad to see your artes are working properly...
[ That means Flynn doesn't have to feel bad when he throws his weight into it to try to shove Yuri back off-balance and tosses a little Luminant Scythe in a downswing of light. His artes are still at half power, so he doesn't expect anything to do much even if it connects. Maybe dazzle Yuri's vision for a moment, though. ]
no subject
Anyway, them crossing blades is simply nostalgic, harkening back to many of their previous sparring matches for certain. ]
And yours aren't?
[ But! Flynn is successful in netting him off-balance for certain, and he blinks blearily through the blinding light and the subsequent hit—maybe he felt like toddler hit him with fireworks going off inches away from his face alongside the lighter physical portion of an attack. So he is forced to backpedal for a bit, as he's only human— ]
Are you trying to blind me here?
no subject
[ Is Yuri saying his artes always seem this lackluster? But at least the attack did what it was supposed to. Flynn laughs and swings for Yuri's arm, testing his guard a little.
Of course, unlike Yuri's sword, Flynn's blade doesn't actually have a blunt side. He's pulling his strikes just a little, although he more than trusts Yuri to be able to keep up with him. ]
I did warn you that I'd use what was at my disposal.
no subject
[ Yeah, he's definitely giving a lil' bit of provoking over here, Flynn is not reading him wrong.
Anyway, despite the fact he had been momentarily blinded, he can catch the swing of the blade coming his way, catching the movement, bringing up his blade to block, but then he's stepping to the side, and swinging with his own little shockwave headed towards the blond's way.
Yeah, he's good at keeping up alright. ]
You did. Though, it's going to take more than that to beat me.
no subject
Even if it used to be easier for Flynn to score a win. But Flynn has bad hobbies too; he likes getting a little frustrated, sometimes. He hops back, blocking the shockwave with the broad side of his blade as it knocks him a little off-balance. ]
Then let's see everything you've been picking up on your travels. I know your Azure Edge already.
no subject
That aside, the both of them have always shared this quality—incredible skill at swordplay that certainly means whenever they clash, it will always be memorable. And it is also certainly true that even Yuri remembers those days when Flynn could best him easier. Skill and perhaps other quirks have done more than enough to help with evening the score. ]
...You know, I was thinking about it. I'll see how I feel about doing so in five minutes.
[ Yuri says, tone far too relaxed for an invigorating match between the two of them. But, maybe that is the point because at the last minute, he will shift into charging forward, slashing with the blunt side of his blade, and intending one more towards the blond provided he is able to pass him by ala Ghost Wolf. ]
no subject
[ Flynn knew riling Yuri would pay off almost immediately. He brings his sword up to block, but Yuri is already moving right past him. Even knowing just how fast Yuri is doesn't make Ghost Wolf easy to stop.
It's one of the best things about fighting him, other than the way they always so naturally move to meet each other, as easy as breathing. Flynn knows he's not going to spin in time to block when Yuri is moving like that, so he drops to slam his blade into the sand, the aura of a Guardian Field rising up around them. Maybe not enough to knock Yuri out of his attack, but he might think twice. ]
no subject
[ Flynn knows Yuri far too well. Rile him up, and see him get like this. Because for all of Flynn's own gained weakness, the dark-haired male has a couple of his own. Behind the chill and relaxed demeanor is one that can rise easily to the right provocation.
And already moving so fast, there is a confident smirk on his lips, enjoying the heat of the battle. Though, the blond-haired knight's contingency maneuver exemplifies why he's still very much a tip-top fighter; as it is, Yuri's already moving. So much so that stopping isn't going to happen, as he's only human.
It doesn't knock him out of his attack. He grunts as he takes in the hit, all the while completing his own attack, but at least it isn't like there is any worry for him to hurt Flynn much. ]
Bet you're feeling awfully clever after pulling something like that.
no subject
[ It probably would have been disappointing if it stopped Yuri entirely, to be honest. Flynn tanks the hit and rolls back to his feet, using the motion to jump and come down with a slash from above. He likes to think Yuri's not the only one who can be a tiny bit unpredictable. Knightly drills or no. ]
You know, the coliseum match was fun. But I think I like it better without a crowd.
[ Like Aurnion. Or the time Yuri had come for him in Hypionia. ...Although honestly, when Yuri turned up in the coliseum, he had a way of making the audience completely fade from Flynn's awareness. ]
no subject
[ Not that Yuri doesn't dislike the fact Flynn can easily think on the fly and adjust his battle tactics accordingly. There wouldn't much of a challenge otherwise if he simply stuck to the way those predictable knightly forms could be.
Case in point with the way the blond dares to strike from above, but Yuri this time is in the right position to meet his blade, swinging upwards—the sound of a sword clashing against another's is certainly nothing new to him. But, it's always nice to have a familiar face on the other end, his eyes staring into bright blue ones, smirk on his face. ]
A crowd's going to be a bit of a distraction, you know? Not that either of us let that take away from the match.
no subject
As if I'd have the leeway. You've gotten better again.
[ It feels like Yuri does every time they fight. Flynn lets that clash of swords toss him back again and lands on his feet to settle into a guard position across from Yuri, studying his stance. He knows him too well to think he can anticipate him all the time either. ]
no subject
Sometimes, unplanned interactions is how the best meetings happen. ]
And despite that, you still always know how to keep up well enough.
[ At least, that's what this fight's proving. Of course, it's noteworthy enough that even it is inevitable for Yuri to make a remark on it.
Anyway, despite the fact Flynn is in a guard stance, Yuri will be coming at him again in a sprint, seeming to swing his sword, and then...he'll suddenly use the momentum of the run to drop into a bit of a slide so one of his feet can run into one of the other blond's. Does Flynn see the attempted nonsense coming, though? ]
no subject
[ "You're carrying what I can't." He'll never forget how Yuri looked when he said that, how warm his voice was. Flynn smiles a little to himself and lifts his sword...
And Yuri comes in low and absolutely slips past his guard this time while he's being sappy in his head. Yuri's foot catches Flynn's footing, sending him stumbling. No one can prepare for all of Yuri Lowell's nonsense! He's got a good moment of advantage now if he wants to press it. ]
no subject
Not that he expected the other man to. But the fact he has brought it up, referencing such things...even as he's already moving, he can't help but let out a chuckle of sorts on his own end.
As for his advantage, despite how close they are—literally, metaphorically, and all that which can't be contained in mere words—Yuri is not about to give Flynn any quarter. After all, it would be insult to him to go easy on him, right? He would dislike the very same.
So, the dark-haired male comes right at the blond, swinging hard and fast with his blade, this time aiming to try to force the weapon from the other male's hands. With him so close, why not go right for it? ]
The day you let me leave you behind is really the day when the world's ended. And we made sure that wouldn't happen in the history of ever.
